MAFFEW FEAT. MASTA ACE "WHERE I'M FROM"

Man, I LOVE real hiphop ! As I told Maffew himself, the look of this video reminds me of the days when I would set my VCR for Rap City and YO!MTV Raps to check out the latest hungry mc's during hiphop's golden era. If you remember those days then you could almost imagine the old Rap City purple & gold title credits in the lower left corner of the screen while watching this joint. To further solidify the already strong buzz the youngin Ragazino Sr's been aggressively building, this go 'round he's joined by veteran mic-ripper Masta Ace as they show their mutual hometown Brownsville much deserved love, honor, and respect . It's always a good look when the cornerstones of the game slide through to cosign you & pass the baton. I can testify to what these two speak of . I walked the streets of Brownsville a few times back in the day with C Jonah and it's easy to recognize how only the strong could survive in this type of environment . It became clear to me how only the hardest, illest beats and rhymes are valid in local rap circles where daily arguments over who the nicest is are commonplace. While Ace warns out-of-town-owners to tuck your shine: "There's the Ville up the hill there's Atlantic Towers/ where your jewels could disappear, no magic powers",Maf boldly lays it down flat: "It's Where hearts are cold as ice, god dammit/They forgot about us so Im puttin us back on the planet" (A statement which Ragazino should have NO problem backing up.) Produced by none other than VA's own NOTTZ, this joint is paying homage to a hood which is more like a monument. I say monument considering it is the birthplace of some of the finest entertainers, athletes, etc who ever laid claim on the status :"The Best That Ever Did It".

MAFFEW "GET IT TOGETHER"

Hold up. waitaminute. "The kick game got the swine flu / and like Magic it been infected since '92. " Impeccable lyricism. See, THIS is the type of material that use to raise so many eyebrows back in the Donland Era. This is the trademark ish we've come to expect from Money And Fame from jump. This track got a mean bop to it. Peep how when the beat drops in and out during the course of the track, he's taking full advantage of it; letting it breathe then finessing it correctly where it counts. Niiiice (in Fabolous voice). This cat is gon' be the one to watch for 2010 and beyond. Rest assured.
