LOL(Nahhh, just f'in with u, C ) Seriously Alan has a broad and varied array of dope music videos under his belt (as seen below) & has weathered the storm through the years of blood, sweat, and tears to master his craft. It's wild to me how he can sit staring at the ceiling (REAL TALK) ,dream up these video treatments then condense lengthy 16-hour shoots into 3 or 4 minutes of crisp storytelling. Alan was DP (director of photography) for Hype Williams for Busta Rhyme's groundbreaking classic video. He invited me on set which was an inconspicuous incognito Islip, NY warehouse in '95 or'96 for this joint. I had the honor that day of meeting the legendary Jam Master Jay (RIP), Bus-A-Bus of course, Rampage, Spliff Starr, Bathgate, and mad mc's including Agallah (8-OFF) who "showed love the Brooklyn way" offering me substantial discounts on "Herbal Essence" at the time. I always used to wish the "Everything Remains Raw" snippet intro for the video coulda been full-length cuz that was one of my favorites off The Shining cd & Busta was straight ZONIN'in my opinion ...but I digress.

Chappelle Show mixtape: It's SHAWN NO Dave !!!

While her genre is hiphop r&b soul not gospel , shawty is still the truth! Raining down with heavenly melodies to give us relief from the drought in the world of often uninspired R & B, comes none other than the lovely mega-talented Shawn Chappelle. Yes, yall, it's been long awaited by those in her circle but it's finally here: Chappelle's Show The Mixtape.To know her is to love her, mayne. S.C. is a l'il ole bite-sized sweetheart with a big voice ; assertive yet beaming with positivity. As fate would have it, Richmond,VA's prominent singer/songwriter just so happens to bear the same last name of one our most beloved icons in the world of comedy. She's no joke though, people. As Big Nat declares enthusiastically: "She gets busy and she got JOINTS !" You gotta love how beautifully the concept ties in, people. As Dave consistently gave us therapy through the gift of laughter , Shawn serves up a phat dose of feel good music to help listeners unwind, relax and cope with everyday stress. Her b-girl pose (similar to Dave's) on the cover art should let you know upfront that while she is in fact a singer, she is definitely a true school hip-hop head to the core. Same way Dave told em "before I sell out, I'll get hell out" , that's the same stance Shawn sticks to in respect to her craft: NO COMPROMISE & NO NONSENSE. Evidence of this zero tolerance for b.s. is her keen ear for beat selections and the smart line-up of genuine spitters featured on her masterpiece. HeavyHitter DJ Lonnie B blesses her mixtape with his stamp of approval along with Canayda, Illa, Kleph Dollaz, and Joey Gallo. Shawn shows creativity on both the original songs and on the popular hit records she flipped, updated, and put her own spin on. Among those, I gotta mention that Big Lo made me bust a gut off "BlindSided" when he said "Homeland Security better come get her/she blowin up my phone"... LOL( referencing a classic case of a "jumpoff" gone wrong) On "Notebook" , Kleph and Shawn breathe new life fittingly enough into Black Star's "Respiration" instrumental paying a well-deserved tribute to every poet/songwriter's best friend. Talking to inanimate objects would otherwise be crazy but think about it. Your notebook is there for you to vent and spill your guts yet it will never judge you or hold a grudge when you spend too much time away from it. Genius. Production-wise Kleoh Dollaz PUT.IN.WORK. Bravo. My brother, my ace, my business partner in this, the super-producer C Jonah D Truth expertly laced "Shawty Wanna Rock" and the result was pure magic.SALUTE. This mixtape is very soulful through and through and it is highly recommended that everyone give this one a listen. Beautiful job, Shawn, Kleph, and everyone involved. You knocked this one outta the park.

Meet Maffew Raggazino aka M.A.F your new fresh face from Brooklyn that's going to be a problem. His style could never be yours, his swag is cocky, he knows that no one can touch him and that's also the reason why DJ. CLARK KENT (responsible for Jay-Z reasonable doubt and Rick Ross feat. Neyo super high) recruited him. Born in the Brooklyn notorious housing projects "BROWNZVILLE", the place i'm also from young Maffew had a gift that'll soon shake up the industry. Many labels was watching and listening to the young rookie but one Rapper snatched him quick to be part of his family. Yep, Shake Downs own Red Cafe. M.A.F did a bid with the upcoming Konvict/Bad Boy mc then later on decided to part ways. You can hear him on DJ Envy and Red Cafe "THE CO-OP" project. Let's fast forward 1 year later, now things get better for M.A.F and to the rescue comes DJ Clark Kent. Armed with his production "REMEDY" Clark took M.A.F and turned him into a beast that got the world now fiend out waiting to hear his untitled debut. im just going to give you 2 joints for now.
